Pro - representative of the data as a whole

Con - easily distorted by extreme values

Median:

Pro - not distorted by extreme values

Con - too insensitive, higher and lower values ignored

Mode:

Pro - useful for categorical data

Con - doesn’t take the whole group into account

Range:

Pro - quick and easy

Con - unrepresentative of the data as a whole

Standard deviation:

Pro - representative of the data set

Con - time consuming
