Weapons handling, drill movements, mess etiquette, air power studies, logistics and administration etc.

What are the Conditions of Service (unrestricted service, weapons handling, alcohol and drug policies, Defence Force Discipline Act, etc)??

  1. Unrestricted Service Refers to your ability to deploy anywhere in Australia or overseas at short notice

  2. Military Law ADF members are subject to military as well as civil law. The Defence Force Discipline Act (DFDA) is designed to provide order to the defence establishment in times of war and peace

  3. Non-medical use of drugs

  4. Arduous Conditions ADF staff may be required to serve under arduous conditions. In the field or at sea under exercise or operational conditions

What is your understanding of a combat role and weapons handling?

Although I am in a non-combat role I understand I am expected to partake in weapons handling training, and although risk is lower in my role I am also prepared for the risk to be in combat.

20 sit ups, 5.1 score on beep test

What leadership styles resonate with you?

I grew up in a more “transactional” household where I was rewarded for good behaviour and punished for bad, and I think I’ve carried that onto my work life however I also resonate with Laissez-faire as I like the opportunity to make decisions and learn on the go

Operation Accordion in the Middle-east, air mobility and operations

Operation Aslan - UN missions in South Sudan

Operation Beech - non-combat role between Hamas-Israel conflict precautionary measure to support the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade-led whole-of-government contingency planning

What international cooperative exercises are the ADF involved in?

RIMPAC - last year we were apart of the exercise Rim of the Pacific which is the world’s largest international maritime exercise lead by the U.S. Pacific Fleet

Exercise Pitch Black - hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force, involving over 20 nations and focusing on air combat training and interoperability. 

Exercise Balikatan - A large-scale, annual exercise with the Philippines, focusing on maritime security, air and missile defense, cyber defense, and humanitarian assistance.
