Native American interaction- originally trade between settlers and NA, Walking Purchase allowed Pennsylvania to expand borders
Religion- Penn for Quakers, RI = religious freedom
Key Characteristics of New England Colonies
sustenance farming, shipbuilding, logging, fishing, trade
community-based & church central settlements
Native American interaction- Wampanoags saved Pilgrims, later Metacom’s War (NA try to get rid of settlers, leads to death for NA and Covenant Chain to protect fur trade)
Religion- Puritans for ideal society (vs. Anne Hutchinson) and Pilgrim separatists
