What are autotrophs?
Organisms that can make complex organic compounds from simple inorganic molecules e.g. carbon dioxide + water
What are autotrophs referred to? Why?
Producers as they synthesize their own complex organic compounds
Give an example of autotrophs?
Plants
Why are plants autotrophic?
Photosynthesis occurs inside plant chloroplasts -> simple organic compounds (water + carbon dioxide) form complex inorganic compounds (starch)
What are the 2 different types of autotrophs? Give examples of each
Photoautotrophs (plants) and chemoautotrophs (bacteria)
