Dental operatory
The treatment room where dental procedures are performed.
Plastic barriers
Used on equipment to keep the treatment room as germ-free as possible.
Upright position
Used when assisting the operator with most dental work.
Supine position
Used when assisting a patient during fluoride treatment.
Subsupine position
Used during an emergency situation.
Operator's stool
A stool with features such as an abdominal support bar and adjustable back for lumbar support.
Assistant's stool
A stool that typically has five castors for mobility.
Static zone
The area to exchange instruments and dental materials.
Operator's zone
The area where the operator sits.
Assistance zone
a designated 2-4 o'clock position (for right-handed dentistry) where a dental assistant sits to manage suction, instruments, and patient care.
Transfer zone
Area where instruments and dental materials are exchanged between the assistant and operator.
