a model that assumes that the size and distance betweenn countries /regions influences migration and economics

Migration transition model

a branch of the DTM where countries in stages 2-3 experience pop growth and overcrowding , causing people to migrate to stage 4-5 countries where there aren’t these issues

Return migration

When people return to their home countries

Asylum

Protection granted by a country of refuge to refugees of another country that have a threat of harm if they return.

Transhumance

when herders move with their animals to different pastures at different times of the year.

Brain drain

When a migration out of a country is made up of a lot of highly skilled people, ie: doctors, engineers, lawyers.

Ethnic enclaves

Communities in the same area/neighborhood made mostly up of the same ethnic/cultural group

Family reunification

policies that allow migrants to sponser family members who also migrate into the same country as them.

Remittances

Money migrants send to their families back home after leaving to work in another country. They migrate poor to rich countries(normally)
