Pressure receptors in bladder send signal to spinal cord & brain
When bladder reaches pressure threshold, brain stimulates motor neurons in spinal cord
Autonomic motor impulse send to contract detrusor muscle and to relax internal urethral sphincter
The same impulses also inhibit the somatic motor neurons innervating the external urethral sphincter, causing it to relax
