What is socialisation?
Socialisation is the process of learning behavior in society through various groups known as agents of socialisation.
Primary Socialisation
Socialisation carried out by parents and family during early childhood, teaching norms and values.
Secondary Socialisation
Socialisation that occurs as a child gets older, involving agents like peer groups, media, education, religion, and work.
Agents of Socialisation
Groups that influence personal attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors, including family, peers, media, and education.
Feral Children
Children who have grown up without human care and support, often exhibiting wild or unsocialized behavior.
Identity
The qualities, beliefs, personality, looks, and expressions that make a person or group, including gender, class, ethnicity, and nationality.
Gender Socialisation
The process by which children are taught societal norms and behaviors associated with their gender.
Class Identity
A status based on wealth and lifestyle, affecting access to education and labels assigned to individuals.
Ethnicity
A person's cultural background, which includes shared norms and values based on culture rather than skin color.
Nationality
The identification with a particular nation, including language, culture, and national pride.
