Past Simple
A tense used to describe actions that were completed at a specific time in the past.
Present Perfect
A tense used to describe actions that occurred at an unspecified time or that have relevance to the present.
Finished-time phrases
Phrases such as 'yesterday', 'last week', 'at 2 p.m.' that are used with past simple tense.
Example of Past Simple
'I went to London last May.'
Example of Present Perfect
'I've been to London.' (incorrect if paired with specific time reference)
