Jesus Reveals our Dignity

What does it mean to be authentic?

It means to be real and to be TRUE. That means we are free.

What do we need to be free from in order to be authentic?

Free from SIN

What does Jesus give us to live in freedom? 

He gives us the Church.

What does it mean to be made in the image and likeness of someone? 

we are CHILDREN of God and gave us great dignity to share his divine life in the sacraments.

What three things does Jesus model for us? (be able to match definitions)

Humility:Jesus washing his feet of the disciples.

Prayer: Jesus prayed all the time

Poverty: Jesus's family was not rich, he wanders around the country preaching about the gospel

What three things are we given that separate us from the animals?

How does Jesus love others? 

Jesus LOVES everyone! Permits us to respond to his love in faith.

How does Jesus see others? 

He sees us not for what we DO, but for WHO we ARE.

What is stewardship? 

They are to care for the animals and the Earth.

What are the things we are to care for as stewards?

Having dominion over the animals.

What are the 3 fundamental truths that give us dignity?

1. We are created as GOOD.

2. We are in need of Salvation.

3. We are made for eternal life with God in Heaven.

By what do we overcome sin?

God’s grace we can make good decisions.

What do we call our wounded humanity?

“Fallen nature of Mankind”

Who has Original Sin?

Brokenness that is passed to EVERY person.

O happy fault!”: What is this referring to? Why do we say it? 

We say this during Easter and sing the Exultet, in joy because of Adam and Eve’s sin we have a redeemer.

How do we know we are made for Heaven? 

Jesus saved us and the Sacraments.

How do we participate in the divine life of God? 

By receiving the sacraments.

Do man and woman need one another? 

Yes, in order to continue the human race.

What is the nature of man and woman regarding one another?

God made us with this beautiful complementary nature so that we could help one another in many ways.

How does our sexuality image the Trinity? 

1. Union

What happens when we lose one of the essential aspects of our sexuality?

People can be used. Has to be a twofold act.

What is the sexual act a bodily expression of?

Marriage vows

What is chastity? 

A virtue whereby we are able to love others well.

How do we see others when we exercise the virtue of chastity? 

We see others for who they are, and not what they do for us.

When does life begin? 

Begins at conception.

What does the Church stand in opposition to because of the dignity of the human person’s life? 

Abortion, euthanasia, and other procedures that can harm human life.

When are we called to protect life from?
