What is the systemic circuit?
arteries carry oxygenated blood to capillary beds within the body’s tissues, and the veins return deoxygenated blood back to the heart
What is the coronary circuit?
similar like to the systemic circuit but its arteries capillary beds and beds supply and drain only the heart
What is the pulmonary circuit?
these arteries deliver deoxygenated blood to the capillary beds of the lungs and a set of veins that return oxygenated blood to the heart
What is the Sinoatrial node (SA Node)?
Is located in the superior part of the right atrium and depolarizes 60 times per minute. This is the normal pacemaker of the heart.
What is the Atrioventricular node (AV Node)?
Located in the posterior and medial part of the tricuspid valve and it depolarizes 40 times per minute. Acts as the backup pacemaker, if the SA node stops pacing the heart.
What are arteries?
Responsible for carry blood away from the heart
What are capillary beds?
responsible for the exchange for gas, nutrients, and waste products
What are veins?
they are responsible for returning blood to the heart
What is systolic pressure?
Pressure in arteries during the period of ventricular contraction. (ventricular systole)
What is Diastolic pressure?
Pressure in arteries during ventricular relaxation (ventricular diastole)
What does the term ausculatation mean?
listening to the heart
What causes S1 to happen?
Closure of Atrioventricular valves (AV Valves)
What causes S2 to happen?
Closure of semilunar valves (SA Valves)
What is vasoconstriction?
narrowing of blood vessels and increases resistance
What is vasodilation?
Opening of blood vessels and decreases resistance
What happens to the pulse wave during excersice?
it increases
What takes time (like days) to change blood pressure?
Blood volume
what is abundant leukocyte?
Neutrophil
What percent makes up the formed elements of the blood?
45%
What percent makes up the plasma of the blood?
55%
If antiserum A and B both react with a blood sample anti-rh serum does not, what is the blood type?
AB-
If antiserum A and B both react with a blood sample anti-rh serum does also, what is the blood type?
AB+
If A and B both reacted but rh was not tested, what is the blood type?
You would not be able to detect a blood type
What is the Universal blood type giver?
O-
What is the Universal blood type receiver?
AB+
