in meis tabellis​

on my tablets​

esse delicatos​

to be frivilous​

scribens versiculos​

writing trivial verses​

per iocum atque vinum​

through jokes and wine​

incensus​

set on fire​

nec cibus iuvaret​

neither food helped​

nec somnus tegeret quiete ocellos​

nor did sleep cover my dear eyes with rest​

indomitus furore​

uncontrollable in my frenzy​

ut tecum loquerer​

so that I might talk with you​

semimortua​

half-dead​

hoc, iucunde, tibi poema feci​

I made this poem for you, dear friend​
