Ice Cubes
This additive is generally used to finish a drink. The more you use in your glass, the colder and less diluted your finished cocktail will be, and vice versa.
Crushed Ice
This additive is perfect for blended drinks as it speeds up the mixing/freezing process.
Cracked Ice
This additive is generally used in the shaker to chill the ingredients without taking up as much space.
Garnish
Many people consider this to be the object that defines a cocktail. In some cases, your choice of garnish can reflect the drink itself — think of the Pina Colada with its obligatory pineapple slice. Sometimes this object is a vital ingredient, but sometimes it is just an object to make the drink look more attractive.
