Berry (1967)

Temne collectivist, Inuit, individualist, Scot control group. Traditional and transitional of each used, urban and rural Scots used. Ashe paradigm study. Participants told which line their group thought was equal. DV was lines away from the correct one. Temne had high conformity when told Temne answers, low for Inuits.

Chen et Al (2005)

149 bicultural Singaporean students. Primed with photos to feel aware of either Singaporean or American. After priming, told standard delivery cost 2.99 for 5 days but could pay more for 1 day delivery. Asked how much they would pay for 1 day and to list 3 politicians. American primed participants put importance on immediate consumption.

Samoans are high on power-distance. Interviews and observations of young Samoan men. By age 10, borrowing fishing equipment and experiment unsupervised. By 12, able to fish on their own. Test administered confirmed kids had understanding of the systems and rituals of society.

2095 Asian Americans used, 1271 first-generation. Semi-structured interviews online/in-person. Bilingual families contributed to lower stress. Preference of English only predicted high acculturative stress. Sharing values and satisfied with economic opportunities experienced less acculturative stress. Negative treatment had higher acculturative stress.

24 white families sued. Observers recorded reactions of parents over a 5 week period. Two observers for inter-coder reliability. Parents reacted favorably to same-sex preferred behavior. Positive for girls acting independent.
