Apex
The highest point of something.
Filibuster
A tactic for delaying or obstructing legislation by making long speeches.
Esoteric
Confined to and understandable by only an enlightened inner circle.
Rabble
A disorderly crowd of people; a disparaging term for the common people.
Upbraid
To criticize severely; to reproach severely.
Cynical
Believing the worst of human nature and motives; having a sneering disbelief.
Antic
An attention-drawing, often wildly playful or funny act.
Stem
The main trunk of a plant; a line of ancestry.
Obstreperous
Marked by unruly or aggressive noisiness; stubbornly resistant to control.
Altercation
A noisy, heated, angry dispute.
Condone
To regard or treat something bad as acceptable, forgivable, or harmless.
Dexterous
Mentally skillful and clever; skillful with the hands.
Repose
Freedom from activity; to lean in a comfortable resting position.
Culminate
To end with a particular result or at a particular point.
Interminable
Lasting a very long time and therefore boring or annoying.
Hauteur
Overbearing pride evidenced by a superior manner toward inferiors; arrogance.
Check
To restrain power or action; to stop something from increasing.
Wry
Bent, twisted, or turned usually abnormally to one side; cleverly humorous.
Grievance
Something that you think is unfair and that you complain or protest about.
Assuage
To make an unpleasant feeling less severe; to provide physical relief.
Impeccable
Free from fault, blame, or error.
Outcry
A loud cry; clamorous; a strong protest.
Aggrandize
To make great or greater; as in power, wealth, or reputation.
Deferential
Showing respect, especially to someone older or more senior.
Plight
A difficult and sad situation; to put or give in pledge.
