What are G-proteins made of?
Three subunits — alpha (α), beta (β), and gamma (γ).
What happens when G-protein is activated?
The alpha subunit (bound to GTP) separates from the beta and gamma subunits to activate or inhibit target enzymes or ion channels.
How is the G-protein turned off?
The alpha subunit hydrolyzes GTP back to GDP, stopping the signal and reuniting with the beta and gamma subunits.
