Meiosis definition
A type of cell division which creates 4 unique gametes
Stages of meiosis
DNA replication- chromosome number doubles
Cell divides- two cells now
Cells divide again- four gamete now with half the number of chromosomes
Gametes definition
Sex cells e.g. sperm + egg and pollen + ovum
Sexual reproduction definition
Reproduction involving the fusion of gamete’s- creates unique offspring that resembles both parents
Asexual reproduction definition
Reproduction involving only one parent- no gametes fuse- offspring are identical to parent
