Faith

Complete trust or confidence in someone or something, or a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

Total and Absolute

Faith in God that calls for a total and absolute adherence, exemplified by Christ's total commitment to God in his Passion, Death, and Resurrection.

Trinitarian

Faith as adherence to the Triune God revealed through Jesus Christ, our Lord, and our friendship with Christ and the Father through the Holy Spirit.

Informed and Communitarian

Faith that is informed by believing Jesus' words and teachings and accepting his teachings as the words of eternal life, and faith that is communitarian, transmitted through the Church and experienced in the Christian community.

Inculturated

Faith that is not separated from the typical Filipino faith in family and friends, but lived out in daily relationships with them.

Believing

The dimension of faith that involves our basic convictions as Christians and confessing with our lips that Jesus is Lord and believing in our hearts that God raised him from the dead.

Faith is knowing

Christian faith is not just head knowledge of abstract truths, but a deep knowledge like that of our parents or loved ones.

Personal Knowledge

Christian faith is a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ as "my Lord and my God" and a trusting relationship with him.

Doing

Christian faith is also doing, as St. James writes, "What good is it to profess faith without practicing it?" and Jesus taught that only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom of God.

Faith is Commitment

Christian faith is a commitment to follow God's will, exemplified by Mary's "I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as you say."

Faith is Witnessing

Christian faith is witnessed through loving service to our needy neighbors, deeds of justice and love, and protecting and caring for the environment.

Entrusting/Worshipping

Christian faith involves entrusting oneself into God's hands, trusting in him even without seeing him personally, and worshiping through personal heartfelt conversation with God.

Faith is from the Heart

Loving, trusting, and hoping in the Lord comes from God's own love flowing in our hearts.

Trusting Faith

Faith lives and grows through prayer and worship, a genuine personal and group prayer found in the celebration of the Liturgy.

Abraham

Father of all who believe, who obeyed God's call, lived as a stranger and pilgrim, offered his only son in sacrifice, and became the father of all who believe.

Mary

Embodies obedience of faith, welcomed the tidings and promise brought by the Angel Gabriel, never wavered in her faith, and venerated as the purest realization of faith.

Prayer

A solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or another deity, developing a conscious awareness of our relationship with God.

Universal Call to Prayer

Everyone is called and invited to prayer, as man is in search of God and God calls man first, initiating the reciprocal call of prayer.

Nature of Prayer

Prayer is the raising of the mind to God and dwelling devoutly with Him, with motives and content including adoration, praise, thanksgiving, petition, intercession, and propitiation.

Kinds/Forms of Prayer

Interior/Mental Prayer is the encounter of the heart with God, while exterior prayer expresses itself in external words and rites. Prayer can be individual or common, informal or formal, and can take various forms.

Religious experiences and insights

The rich treasure of the spiritual encounters and understanding of previous generations, saints, and inspired individuals.

Personal prayer

Prayer that is individual and unique to each person, aimed at stimulating and shaping our own spiritual connection.

Refuge

A place of solace and comfort for those who struggle to articulate personal prayers or are going through a period of spiritual drought.

Liturgical Prayer

Formal prayers designed for communal worship, particularly in the context of sacramental celebrations.
