High calorie low protein foods
High fat high carb processed foods are:
Calorie dense
Poor in protein
Often lack essential vitamins and minerals
So even though you get calories, your body still misses important nutrients > a form of malnutrition
Protein seeking behaviour
The boys always try to meet it’s protein requirements first
When food is low in protein, your body eats more to find it leading to overeating of fatty foods
End result: too many calories > not enough protein > unhealthy balance
Positive energy balance
If you eat more energy than you use, the extra energy is stored as fat
This is called positive energy balance
Over time it leads to weight gain and health issues
Negative energy balance
Opposite of positive energy balance
Over time leads to weight loss
