Stimulation of Muscle contraction + steps

Occurs at the neuromuscular junction

The location where the axon terminal of a motor neuron meets the plasma membrane of a muscle cell

The action potential in the motor neuron will cause a release

releases neurotransmitters (acetylcholine), which will diffuse across the muscle to cause depolarization of the muscle, which stimulates muscle contraction

Step 1

AP of the motor neuron will reach the Axon terminal to allow Ca2+ to enter the axon terminal

Step 2

Calcium Ions will cause movement of vesicles containing Ach (Acetylcholine) to move to the plasma membrane and to release Ach into the synaptic cell

step 3

Ach diffuses across the cleft and will bind to the receptors in muslce membrane

step 4

lead to the displacement of the muscle, which stimulates muscle contractions
