Body Weight
Obesity- Gaining weight leads to the body carrying excess weight, putting more pressure on the joints and muscles on areas like the back, leading to back pain.
Blood Pressure
Blood Pressure- Hypertension puts strain on the heart, forcing it to pump against higher resistance in hardened arteries leading to a higher risk of heart attack (cardiovascular disease).
Blood Cholesterol
Two types of blood cholesterol:
Low-density lipoprotein (LDL): Bad Cholesterol
High-density lipoprotein (HDL): Good Cholesterol
Blood Cholesterol- High levels of low-density lipoprotein can build up in the walls of arteries, causing them to narrow and harden. This reduces blood flow and increases the risk of stroke (cardiovascular disease.)
Glucose Regulation
Glucose Regulation- Impaired glucose regulation can be caused by excess body weight, resulting in cells becoming insulant resistant, leading to type two diabetes.
Birth Weight
Low birth weight = Babies under 2.5kg
Birth weight- Babies with a low birth weight of under 2.5kg, are likely to have an underdeveloped immune system, making them more susceptible to the flu, or a common cold.
Genetics
MEN ONLY- Testicular cancer
WOMEN ONLY- Ovarian cancer
Genetics- Men are genetically more likely to take risks, due to increased testosterone levelsl, particularly in their teenage years, leading to a higher likelihood of them getting an injury like breaking their leg.
Age
Age- Following mid 30s, bone density and muscle mass begin to decline, increasing the likelihood of osteoporosis
