I want to be
transparent about what employees are experiencing right now. our crew members are grieving, they are scared, and they were already in a discouraged state before this crash even happened.
Flight attendants have
gone 5 years without a raise and the APFA has been so incredibly frustrated that they are now wearing war pins on their uniforms, signaling they are ready to strike.
Management has also
announced thousands of layoffs. So it should not be a mystery that employee morale is declining or why they are experiencing a lack of trust.
Our employees are
scared, not only for their jobs, but for their safety.
what employees are
asking for is simple: to hear from american airlines first, not from the news.
When layoffs were
announced, people showed up to work and had lost their jobs on the spot with no warning or conversation. that is not the appropriate method to treat the people who are the face of this airline.
we are asking
for more consistent communication through email and all appropriate channels such as our jetnet portal, and we need leadership to recognize that employees are not a liability to cut in this precarious time.
employees are an
integral part for american airline’s recovery. fair wages and job security during this period are not negotiable; they are what keeps this airline running.
