simple squamous epithelium

lines the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems, serous membranes, alveoli, glomerular capsules of kidneys, tympanic membrane

simple cuboidal epithelium

kidney tubules and small ducts of many glands, covers ovaries, portions or the eye lens and retina

nonciliated simple columnar epithelium

lines GI tract from stomach to anus, ducts of many glands, gallbladder

cilated simple columnar epithelium

lines bronchioles, fallopian tubes, some paranasal sinuses, central canal of spinal cord, and ventricles of the brain

pseudostratified columnar epithelium

lines airways of upper respiratory tract like the trachea

stratified squamous epithelium

superficial layer of the skin lines mouth, tongue, esophagus, pharynx, part of epiglottis, and vagina

transitional epithelium

lines bladder and portions of ureters and urethra

mesenchyme

found in the embryo, some in adult tissues (blood vessels)

mucous connective tissue

umbilical cord of fetus

areolar connective tissue

subcutaneous layer deep to skin, papillary region of dermis, around blood vessels, nerves, and body organs

adipose connective tissue

subcutaneous layer deep to skin, around heart and kidneys, yellow bone marrow, around joints, behind eyeball

reticular connective tissue

spleen, lymph nodes, red bone marrow, stroma of liver, around blood vessels and muscles

dense regular connective tissue

form tendons, most ligaments and aponeuroses

dense irregular connective tissue

sheets beneath skin, around muscles and other organs, reticular region of the dermis, fibrous pericardium and other membrane capsules around various organs, periosteum fo bone, joint capsules, also in heart valves

elastic connective tissue

lung tissue, walls of elastic arteries, trachea, bronchial tubes, true vocal cords, suspensory ligaments of penis, and some ligaments between vertebrae

hyaline cartilage connective tissue

found in the embryonic and fetal skeleton, at the ends of long bones, anterior ends of ribs, nose, parts of larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchial tubes

fibrocartilage connective tissue

pubic symphysis, intervertebral discs, menisci of the knee

elastic cartilage connective tissue

auricle, epiglottis, eustachian tubes

compact/cortical osseous connective tissue

typically the most superficial portions of bone

spongy/cancellous osseous connective tissue

contains bone marrow; typically in the ends of long bones and the core of flat bones

vascular connective tissue

within blood vessels and heart chambers

skeletal muscle tissue

attached to bones by tendons

cardiac muscle tissue

heart wall

smooth muscle tissue

walls of hallow organs and iris of the eyes

nervous tissue

brain, spinal cord, nerves
