Whats the difference between anatomy physiology and pathophysiology

Anatomy- structure

Physiology- function

Pathophysiology- study of function of body parts in disease

2
New cards

what are the 3 body fluid compartments?

1- intracellular- within cell- 67% of all water in body

2-Plasma part of extracellular fluid- fluid portion of blood in which the cells are suspended- 7% of all water in body

3- Interstitial fluid- part of extracellular fluid, fluid lies around and between cells 26% pf total body water

3
New cards
<p>what percent of your body is water </p>

what percent of your body is water

50-60%

4
New cards

Homeostasis?

automatic process of maintaining a balanced environment even though the external environment changes

5
New cards

What happens when homeostasis is disturbed?

body faced with overproducing/restricting

6
New cards

What are the regulated variables in homeostasis?

have ideal set points and this value can vary dynamically within certain range

7
New cards

What are sensors in homeostasis?

variables monitored by specialized sensors that trigger responses to return to an acceptable range

8
New cards

what is the homeostatic steady state?

System in which a variable is not changing, but requires energy to maintain the variable around a set point (115 degrees outside 60- degrees inside)

9
New cards

what is homeostatic equilibrium?

System in which a variable is not changing, but no energy required (68 degrees outside and inside room)

10
New cards

What is negative feedback?

The regulated variable triggers a response opposite to the direction of the original change— happens at organ, cellular or molecular level

11
New cards

What is positive feedback?

An initial change in a variable leads to a greater change on that variable in the same direction (ie. blood clotting)

12
New cards

Last thing is review examples from paket on positive vs negative feedback:)

:)))))) you got that girls
