Why are surface treatments applied?

Method
1. Apply a thin layer with a brush to a grease free surface
Colours wood whilst allowing the natural grain to show
Wax
Method
1. Apply with a lint free cloth
2. Rub wax in the direction of the grain for 5 minutes
3. Buff with clean cloth
Matt or gloss shine whilst allowing the natural grain to show
Danish oil
Method
1. Apply with a lint free cloth
2. Rub oil in the direction of the grain for 5 minutes
3. Wipe off excess with clean cloth
Matt, water-resistant finish
Yacht varnish
Method
1. Apply a thin layer with a brush to a grease-free surface
High glossy finish, increases toughness and water-resistance
