Change Management Process
A documented process that minimizes the risk of configuration drift and unscheduled downtime by implementing changes in a planned and controlled way.
Reactive Change
A change that is forced on the organization.
Proactive Change
A change that is initiated internally by the organization.
Request for Change (RFC)
A document that captures the need for change and the procedure for implementing it in a formal change management process.
Change Advisory Board (CAB)
A group that approves major or significant changes, which may be managed as a separate project.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
A document that outlines principal goals, considerations, and detailed steps for performing a task in an approved way.
Service Request Ticket
An authorization that must be in place for making configuration changes in a network.
Ticket System
A system that facilitates request process tracking, documents requests and approvals, and monitors the progress of changes.
