Break loose and travel to brain/lungs/kidneys

Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF)
Rickettsia Rickettsi
Fever, headache, nausea, abdominal pain
Red non itchy rash, starts MACULES progress to PETECHIAE (red spots)or PURPURA(purple blotches) - appearing 3-5 days after fever onset
1st on wrist and ankles then spread centrally to trunk

bite of infected ROCKY MOUNTAIN WOOD or AMERICAN DOG TICK
bacteria invade and multiply within endothelial cells lining the small blood vessels

Ehrlichiosis
Multple ehrlichia species
invades WBC
similar to RMSF s/s
RASH IS LESS COMMON
1st apprears on trunk and rarely involves palms/soles
