Child CPR
-Check carotid pulse (no more than 10 sec)
- at least 1/3 chest diameter (2 inches)
-1 rescuer: 30:2
-2 resucer 15:2
-ALS airway: 1 breath per 2-3 seconds
Infant CPR
-Check Brachial pulse (no more than 10 sec)
-Place padding behind shoulders for sniffing position
- at least 1/3 chest diameter (1.5 inches)
-1 Rescuer 30:2 (2 finger or 2 finger encircling technique)
-2 rescuer 15:2
-ALS airway: 1 breath per 2-3 seconds
High quality CPR
- Start compressions within 10 seconds
- 100-120 compression per min
- Allow complete chest recoil after each compression.
- Minimize interruptions in compressions (try to limit to under 10 seconds).
- Give effective breaths that make the chest rise.
- Avoid excessive ventilation.
Infant starts to choke:
Full obstruction
Partial obstruction
-No crying or noise
-Crying or coughing
Infant is choking
1) Hold securely in forearm/palm
-head lower than butt
2) give 5 backblows & 5 chest thrust
3) repeat until obstruction clears or is unresponsiveness
- if unresponsiveness start CPR
Adult choking
1)place hip against patient
2) make a fist with thumb inside and place just above naval height
3) Push UP and IN (bring your fist to your rib cage)
if they become responsive start CPR
