Primary prevention

Secondary prevention
Early detection of asymptomatic disease through screening tests.
Tertiary prevention
Reducing complications of established disease (e.g., rehabilitation, tight glucose control).
USPSTF
United States Preventive Services Task Force; organization providing guidelines for screening and preventive services.
Mammography
Screening tool for breast cancer starting at age 50.
Pap test
Screening for cervical cancer; recommended starting at age 21.
Screening options for colorectal cancer
Includes FIT yearly, colonoscopy every 10 years, or CT colonography every 5 years.
PSA screening
Prostate-specific antigen test; shared decision-making for ages 55–69.
Blood pressure screening
Recommended for all adults starting at age 18.
