What is the cell cycle?
the cycle of how cells divide and grow
The smaller/larger the cell is easier/harder it is to control
The smaller the easier or the larger the harder
What are the three phases of the cell cycle?
interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis
What are the three parts of interphase?
growth/gap 1, synthesis, growth/gap 2
What are the four parts of mitosis?
prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase
What happens in growth one?
the cell grows
What happens during synthesis?
the DNA copies itself
What happens during growth 2?
the cell prepares for division
What happens in prophase?
The chromatin condeses into chromosomes and spindle apparatus forms
What happens during metaphase?
The spindles attach to the chromosomes
What happens during anaphase?
The spindle apparatus move the chromosomes so they split in half
What happens during telophase?
The chromosomes start to gather again and two nuclei start to form
What happens during cytokenisis?
The cells divide and the cytoplasm divides into two new cells
During which stage does a cell spend the most time in?
Growth
What is G0?
growth zero is where the cell exits the cell cycle
What is cancer?
when cells don’t grow properly causing rapid duplication that is out of control
