What does QRM do?

(Quick Response Manufacturing) — Produces a product to the order so faster the response time (The time between getting the order and starting the production) the more competitive it will be.

What is Vertical in-house production?

It refers to that the company entirely has their own production line and doesn’t outsource for any means meaning that they personally make every part in which they require.

What does JiT stand for?

Just in Time (Manufacturing) or Lean Production

What is JiT?

Something quite similar to QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) to where it is also highlighted in the name with it meaning that the product is made just in time.

No Stockpiling.

What is an FMS?

A Flexible Manufacturing System being predominantly controlled via CNC allowing for on-demand Bespoke and Batch orders.

• SMED (Single Minute Exchange Die)

What is SMED?

Single Minute Exchange Die with the meaning being in the name where with a target of 10 minutes it should be able to quickly change the mould in a machine.

What are the 2 Different types of components?

• Standardised

• Bought-in

What is the different between Standardised and Bought-in Components?

Standardised components are made to fit within common or standard interchangeable sizes while Bought-in components are made to perfectly fit its specific job.

What is sub-assembly?

Pre-manufactured elements which finally get incorporated into the final piece.

An example being a Chain for a bicycle.
