What is a Pure Substance?

A type of matter that has a consistent makeup and specific properties throughout. It can be an element or a compound.

What is a Pure Element?

A pure substance that cannot be broken down into anything simpler. It's made of only one kind of atom (iron gold, oxygen).

What is a Homogeneous Mixture?

A mixture where different parts are evenly mixed, and you can't see the individual components. It looks the same all the way through (e.g., salt dissolved in water).

What is a Heterogeneous Mixture?

A mixture where the parts are not evenly mixed, and you can easily see the different components (e.g., salad, sand and water).
