Rhyme
A repetition of similar sounds in two or more words.
e.g. in the height
the stars are bright
Internal Rhyme
Rhyme inside of a line.
e.g. i drove to the lake
and dove into the lake
End Rhyme
rhyme at the end of a line.
e.g. sat on a wall
had a great fall
strong rhyme
masculine/strong/stressed syllabes
e.g. hill and still
eye rhymes
words that look like they ryhme
e.g. love and prove
imperfect rhyme
words that do not rhyme. produces discordance.
e.g. soul and wall
rhytym
flow or movment of a line.
imagery
a vivid idea created in the mind of the reader.
e.g. i wandered lonley on a cloud.

simile
direct comparison with like or as
onomatopeia
word imitiating a sound.
e.g. boom, zip, whirr
simblance
creation of stress using the ‘S’ sound.
e.g. sam sipped sweet tea.
denotation
literal meaning of a word.
e.g. home is a place of resience.
epigram
short,witty paradoxical statement.
euphony
the quality of bring pleasing to the ear.
cacophany
harsh mix of sounds.
apstrophe
adressing an inaimnate or non- living object as if they were present.
repetition
intentional reuse of sounds, words or phrases.
allusion
reffering to another matter (be it a place, event, work or something else.)
persona
the character adopted by an author.
allegory
when something means something else.
Alliteration
repetition of same letter/sound at the start of two or more words in a sentence.
assonance
repetiion of same vowel sound in two or more words in a line of poetry
consoance
repetiion of same consonant sound in two or more words in a line of poetry
free verse
poetry writtin in irregular lines. suggests disorder and unrest.
caseura
pause in a line.
end-stopped lines
pause at the end of a line of poetry
enjambment
running over of a line into the next without punctuation. speeds up rhythym and suggests urgency or unrest.
