State the basic exemption of kinetic theory of gases that lead to the conclusion that there is zero potential energy between the molecules of an ideal gas.
There are no forces of attraction or repulsion between molecules (better than mentioning that there are no intermolecular forces)
The mean kinetic energy only accounts for the kinetic energy of one molecule, so when calculating the total internal energy of a ideal gas
We multiply the total number of molecules in the system into the mean kinetic energy (refer to Q1)
When you’re asked to find the number of molecules at a specific temperature, use the formula:
pV=Nkt or pV=nRt and N=Avg.constant x n
(Ref to Q2)
MOST IMPORTANT POINT
DONT FORGET TO CHECK UNITS
SPECIFICALLY VOLUME (cm3 to m3) IN ANSWERS QUESTIONS
When asked to calculate the increasing internal energy of ideal gas and it says to explain your working state:
For ideal gas change in internal energy is change in total kinetic energy of molecules.
