Urination

micturition or voiding is the act of passing urine from the bladder through the urethra to the outside of the body

the inability to control the bladder

UTI

bacterial infection of the urethra, bladder, ureter, or kidney

kidney stones

form when urine crystallizes in the kidneys

Renovascular hypertension

blockage of arteries in the kidneys causes high blood pressure

Chronic renal failure

occurs because the kidneys become unable to eliminate certain waste products from the body.

straight catheter

inserted to drain urine from the bladder and is removed after urine is drained

indewelling catheter

remains inside of the bladder for a long period of time

sample used for anaylisis

routine urine speciman

collected anytime the pt urinates

clean catch speciman

does not include the first and last urine voided

24 hour urine speciman

collects all urine voided in 24 hours
