Flax cerebri
A double-layered fold of dura mater that separates the two cerebral hemispheres.
Superior sagittal sinus
A venous sinus located along the upper midline of the brain, draining blood from the brain into the internal jugular vein.
Inferior sagittal sinus
A venous sinus that runs along the lower edge of the falx cerebri, draining into the straight sinus.
Straight sinus
A venous sinus formed by the union of the inferior sagittal sinus and the great cerebral vein.
Transverse sinus
A venous sinus that leads from the confluence of sinuses and drains into the sigmoid sinus.
Sigmoid sinus
A continuation of the transverse sinus that drains into the internal jugular vein.
Cavernous sinus
A paired venous sinus located on either side of the sella turcica, receiving blood from multiple sources.
Occipital sinus
A small, unpaired venous sinus located along the attached border of the falx cerebelli.
Internal carotid artery (ICA)
Major artery supplying blood to the brain, passing through the cavernous sinus.
Posterior cerebral artery (PCA)
Arises from the basilar artery and supplies the occipital lobe and lower part of the temporal lobe.
