Subordinate Clause
A phrase that is not grammatically complete and is combined with a main clause to give extra information.
Main Clause
A clause that can stand alone as a complete sentence and follows normal rules of word order.
Conjugated Verb Position
In a subordinate clause, the conjugated verb goes to the end of the clause.
Causal Clause
A subordinate clause that states a reason or cause, often introduced by 'weil' or 'da'.
Concessive Clause
A subordinate clause that expresses a contradictive statement, introduced by 'obwohl' or 'obgleich'.

A subordinate clause that outlines an intention or purpose, often using 'damit'.
