Is something morally right because God commands it or does God command something because it is morally right?
Be able to give the principle of humanity
Always treat people as an end in themselves and never as a mere means.
Give names of two of the five basic moral principles discussed in the lecture and be able to define them
The Principle of Utility- We should produce the most favorable balance of benefit over harm for all concerned.
Principle of Justice- Equals should be treated equally.
Be able to give the possible response to Reid’s objection:
Locke's criteria entails that a person may be, and at the same time, may not be, the one who performs a particular action.
Be able to give the moral and practical implications of the principle of dependent origination:
Moral Implication- It encourages equal treatment of all.
Practical Implication- It gives us a way to live our lives free from desire and false beliefs.
