Dilution
The number of moles always stays the same in a dilution. The concentration and the volumes change in a dilution.
Molarity
The two samples contain the same proportion of moles of salt to liters of solution, but have different numbers of actual moles.
Molarity (M)
The concentration of a solution expressed as the number of moles of solute per liter of solution.
Concentration
A measure of the amount of solute that is dissolved in a given amount of solvent or solution.
Solute
A substance dissolved in another substance, known as a solvent.
Solvent
A substance that dissolves a solute, resulting in a solution.
Dilution
The process of reducing the concentration of a solute in a solution, usually simply by mixing with more solvent.
