The bill was signed into law by

President Aquino as the

NIPAS Act of 1992

also known as Republic Act 7586

Aims to secure for the Filipino people of present and future

generations the perpetual existence of all native flora and

fauna.

-is the classification and administration of all

designated protected areas to maintain

essential ecological processes and life-support

systems, to preserve genetic diversity,

administered by the Biodiversity

Management Bureau of the

244 protected areas in the Philippines

there are covering a total area of about 7,760,000 hectares (19,200,000

acres) – 15.4% of the Philippines' total area.

PROTECTED AREAS ARE:

identified portions of land and water set aside for their unique physical and biological

significance, managed to enhance biological diversity and protected against destructive

human exploitation.

PAMB

is organized by the Department of Environment

and Natural Resources (DENR), as prescribed by

the NIPAS Act

PAMB undergoes three stages:
