FFA
Future Farmers of America; a national youth organization that promotes agricultural education.
SAE
Supervised Agricultural Experience, a hands-on learning program that allows students to apply skills in agriculture.
Mission of FFA
To make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
Three Components of Agricultural Education
Classroom and laboratory instruction; 2. FFA; 3. Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE).
Discovery FFA Degree
An award for students in grades 7-8 who show participation in FFA and an interest in agricultural careers.
Greenhand FFA Degree
An award for first-year members who demonstrate knowledge of the FFA and agricultural education.
Chapter FFA Degree
An award for members who have shown leadership and participation in their chapter’s activities.
State FFA Degree
An award presented to members who have achieved high levels of involvement and leadership in state FFA activities.
American FFA Degree
The highest degree awarded to FFA members, recognizing their excellence in leadership and supervised agricultural experience.
Emblem of FFA
A symbol combining an eagle, plow, owl, rising sun, and corn, representing the history and purpose of FFA.
FFA Creed
A statement of beliefs outlining the goals and values of FFA members, relating to agriculture and leadership.
Leadership Conferences
Events organized by FFA to nurture and develop leadership skills among members at different educational levels.
Service-Learning
An educational approach combining learning objectives with community service, enhancing both student learning and the community.
National FFA Week
A week-long celebration of the organization during the week of George Washington’s birthday, focusing on community engagement.
Official Dress Guidelines
Regulations outlining the required attire for FFA members at official events, promoting a professional image.
Alumni and Supporters
Former FFA members and supporters who contribute time and resources to support agricultural education and FFA activities.
National FFA Foundation
An organization that raises funds to support FFA programs and educational opportunities for members.
Career Development Events (CDE)
