Verb

Noun
a part of speech that names a person, place, thing, action, or quality.
Such as women, the act of walking.
ex: I heard the DOORBELL,
My KEYBOARD is sticky
Singular
referring to just one person or thing. Such as a person bc there’s only that one person
Ex: dog, cat, baby, Melanie
typically does not end in s because it’s not cats, dogs but the verb must end in s
Plural
Referring to more than one
Ex: cats, dogs, babies
Plural typically ends in s, but the verb does not end in s
subject
who or what. A person or thing doing the action or being described
Ex: LEE ate the pie, THE BOY puts a lot of garlic in his food
“Lee” and “the boy” are the subject
predicate
Action the SUBJECT is doing. Tells us what the subject does or is.
Ex: Jack EATS garlic snails
Jack is the subject, and the rest of the sentence is the predicate. It tells us what Jack is doing, in this case eating.
basically,the predicate is everything that is not the subject.
conjunctions
They are used to join words, phrases, or clauses.
common conjunctions: and, but, and or
ex: jack AND Hill went up the hill
subject verb agreement
A singular subject is matched with a singular verb or that a plural subject is matched with a plural verb
ex: My box IS under the stairs
The singular subject “box” is matched with the singular verb “is”
ex: My boxes ARE under the stairs
The plural subject “boxes” is matched with the plural verb '“are”
