Identify the research method used in the study
step 1 // refers to terms like experiment, case study, and so forth
State the operational definition
step 2 // refers to how the variable is measured (like speed is calculated within miles per hour)
Describe the meaning of the identified statistic
step 3 // refers to terms like mean, median, mode and so fort
Identify at least one ethical guideline applied by the researcher
step 4 // refers to terms like debriefing, informed consent, etc
Explain the extent to which research findings may or may not be generalizable…
step 5 // active description of the participants that were involved in the study or experiment (ex; college students who were around the ages of 20-25, male)
Explain how at least one of the research findings supports or refutes the psychological concept..
step 6 // explain how the results of the study or experiment proves a certain claim.
Experiment
a research method where a researcher systematically manipulates one or more variables to determine their effect on other variables
Correlational Study
a research method that examines the relationship between two or more variables without manipulating them
Case Study
an in-depth, intensive investigation of a single individual, group, or event to provide rich qualitative data and insights into complex psychological phenomena
Naturalistic Observation
a research method where subjects are observed in their natural environment without interference
Meta Analysis
a statistical method that combines the results from multiple studies on the same topic to produce a single, more reliable estimate of an effect or to draw an overall conclusion
Mean
the arithmetic average of a dataset, calculated by summing all values and dividing by the number of values
Mode
the value that appears most frequently in a data set and is a measure of central tendency
Median
a measure of central tendency that represents the middle score in a dataset after all scores have been arranged in numerical order
Range
the difference between the highest and lowest scores in a dataset
Standard Deviation
a measure of how spread out a set of data is from its average (the mean)
Percentile Rank
the percentage of scores in a standardized distribution that are equal to or lower than a particular score
Skewness
a measure of the asymmetry in a data distribution, such as test scores or survey responses
Correlation Coefficient
a numerical value that measures the strength and direction of a linear relationship between two variables
Informed Consent
Adult Participants
Informed Assent
Participants that are younger than 18 (usually accompanied by an adult)
Nonmale ficence
Protected (No Harm)
Debriefing
a short discussion and explanation of what is being experimented and why, etc.
Confideniality
confidentiality was ensured and the information of the participants are protected/secured
Lack Coercion
Voluntary
Limited Deception
No coms (Participants aren’t informed of experiment or study purpose)
