Evaluation vs. Interpretation

Evaluation: (EXPECTATION FOR Y2)

  • Orient img

  • ID teeth present

  • Mount (anatomic order)

  • Artifacts (scratches, fraying on edges, metal objects)

  • Technique errors

Interpretation: (EXPECTATION FOR Y3 + look from L—>R)

  • Normal anatomy (even more than Y2)

  • Pattern of trabeculation

  • Root morphology

    • Does root look like what it is suppose to look like, sometimes body may resorb root

  • Periodontal assessment

    • Lamina dura, crestal bone, PDL, consistency, intact

  • Restorations & caries

    • Understand what composite filling or crowns look like

    • Alberta—> DH can diagnose caries

    • In BC —> “I suspect there is a caries here”

  • **Looking L —> R to compare against adjacent exposures
