Psychopathology
The study of mental disorders, including their nature, causes, and treatment.

Maladaptiveness
Behavior that interferes with well-being and ability to enjoy life.

Behavior that does not conform to expected social or moral norms, which may suggest psychopathology.
Deviant behavior
Actions that markedly deviate from societal norms and may cause discomfort to others.
Dangerousness
The potential threat that a person may pose to themselves or others, often considered in mental health assessments.

A diagnostic manual that outlines the criteria for various mental disorders.
Prevalence
The total number of cases of a disorder in a population during a specified time period.
Incidence
The number of new cases of a disorder that occur in a specified time period.
Epidemiology
The study of how disease and health behaviors are distributed in populations.
Comorbidity
The presence of two or more disorders in the same individual.
Diathesis-Stress Model
A psychological theory that explains behavior as a predispositional vulnerability together with stress from life experiences.

Anorexia Nervosa
An eating disorder characterized by an intense fear of weight gain and a severely restricted food intake.
Bulimia Nervosa
An eating disorder defined by recurrent episodes of binge eating followed by compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain.
Binge Eating Disorder
Recurrent episodes of binge eating without the purging behaviors characteristic of bulimia.
Schizophrenia
A severe mental disorder characterized by delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech and behavior, and negative symptoms.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
A mental health condition marked by persistent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions).
Social Anxiety Disorder
A fear of social or performance situations where one may be judged or scrutinized by others.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Characterized by excessive anxiety and worry about various aspects of life, often with other physical symptoms.

A category encompassing unipolar and bipolar disorders characterized by significant alterations in mood.
