Metric System
The decimal measuring system based on multiples of ten using the meter, liter, and gram as units of length, volume, and mass.

SI Units
International System of Units, uses the metric system of measurements, and is used by all scientists

Volume
The amount of space an object takes up (the capacity of an object)
Gram
Basic unit used to measure mass in the metric system

Mass
A measure of the amount of matter in an object
Liter
Basic unit of volume in the metric system
Meter
Basic unit of length in the metric system
Length
Distance between two points
Kelvin
K, SI unit for temperature, C + 273= K,

Absolute Zero
The coldest temperature, 0 Kelvin, that can be reached. It is the hypothetical temperature at which all molecular motion stops.

Triple Beam Balance
instrument used to measure mass

Meterstick
A tool used for measuring length or distance

Graduated Cylinder
instrument used to measure volume of a liquid

Time
interval between two events, SI unit of time is the second
Thermometer
An instrument used to measure temperature

Standard
An exact quantity that people agree to use for comparison
Meniscus
The curved upper surface of a liquid in a tube
