Commutative Property
A property stating that the order in which two numbers are added or multiplied does not change the sum or product. (Order changes)
Associative Property
A property stating that the way numbers are grouped when adding or multiplying does not change the sum or product.(grouping changes)
Additive Identity Property
The property which states that the sum of any number and zero is that number. EX: 0 + 5 =5
Multiplicative Identity Property
The property which states that the product of any number and one is that number. EX: 1 × 7 = 7
Equivalent Numerical Expression
Different expressions that have the same value or answer when solved.
Like Terms
Terms that have identical variable parts and can be combined. EX: 4x + -6x = -2x
Unlike Terms
Terms that have different variable parts and cannot be combined. EX: 2x , 2
Coefficient
The numerical factor in a term that contains a variable. EX( 3y, X , -5x
Constant Term
A term in an expression that does not contain any variables. EX: 5 , 1 , 3
Term
parts of an expression that are added together EX: 3x + 2 + 4
Distributive Property
Multiply the term outside the parentheses to each term inside the parentheses
Perimeter
The total distance around a two-dimensional shape.
Area
The measure of the space inside a two-dimensional shape.
