A comparison of the sizes of two quantities by division.

Equality of Ratios

Ratios are equal if they represent the same comparison of quantities.

Proportionality

Ratios are proportional if they represent the same relationship between quantities.

Proportion

An equation that states that two ratios are equal.

Percentage

A fraction or ratio expressed as a fraction of 100.

Calculating Percentages

To calculate a percentage, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100.

Cross-product Method

A technique used to solve proportion problems by cross multiplying.
