Ohm’s Law
V=IR
Series Circuit
Circuit goes from one end to the other, only one path
Parallel Circuits
Both ends are connected together, but multiple paths
Kirchoff’s Voltage Law
All voltage drops in a series circuit equals the total applied voltage
Kirchoff’s Current Law
Total current in a parallel circuit equals all current branches combined
Electrical Power
P=IV. Power= current(voltage)
Current
The flow of electric charge
Conventional Current
Assumes that the flow of currents go from positive to negative. Engineers use this
Electron flow
The actual thing–the flow goes from negative to positive.
Voltage
The pressure that causes current to flow
Resistance
Opposition of current flow
Design Process
Iterative approach used to solve a problem through defining a problem and then testing the product. It is not linear, and you can go back in the process.
Problem Statement
Part of a design brief that summarizes the most important information of a product
Brainstorming
Done either individually or in group. Develop as many ideas as possible, even the wild ones. Sketch and share ideas. Collaborate. Don’t worry about the exact working details and constraints just yet.
Research
Gather facts and create conclusions. Through primary research(conduct interviews, observations, surveys) and secondary research (pre existing info from journals, books, patents, etc)
