Assertion
Declarative claims that something is true or false.
Fact
A verifiable (may not be already verified) assertion that is proven by direct experience, testimonies, verified observation, and results of research. None are foolproof.
Opinion
A well-informed assertion based on fact but difficult to verify. It is objective in a way based on discussion. It is implicit. It is reasonable and open to discussion.
Convention
An assertion in which something has always been, socially accepted, and sounds factual because it reflects the way things were done.
Preference
An assertion based on personal choice. It is entirely subjective where no proof is required.
